Mary Elizabeth (Bill) Newman Armstrong French, 93, of Englewood, died Friday evening, March 15,2013
at NHC of Athens.
A lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Orville and Mary Christy Newman
and was also preceded in death by her first husband Olen E. Armstrong and her second husband
Charles A. French and a son David Armstrong, a sister Edna Hicks and a brother James Newman.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Englewood.
She owned and managed various real estate properties in McMinn County and also owned Armstrong
IGA in Englewood.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Cheryl Armstrong and her husband Barry Kellam of High Point,
NC and Blythe Armstrong of Englewood, a daughter-in-law, Nita W. Armstrong of Englewood, a great granddaughter, Bailey Thomas, a great grandson,
Garrett Maxwell, and one sister Eva Gross of Huntingdon Woods, MI, a sister-in-law, Bette Newman of
Chattanooga and several nieces and nephews.
