Samuel Richard Kyker, 84, of Athens, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 19,
2013 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.
A lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Claude and Sarah Richesin Kyker and
was also preceded in death by brothers Blane and Millard Kyker and one grandson, Jacob Gowin.
He was a of the Baptist faith and was a member of Meridian Sun Lodge #50 F&AM. He was retired
from Bowater Papermill after 37 years of service and was an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Lusk Kyker of Athens; daughters and sons-in-law,
Pat and Joe McCall of Niota, Debbie Coleman of Athens, and Kathy and David Cawlfield of Athens;
grandchildren and their spouses, Andy and Katy McCall, Lori and Robert Harbison, Chris and Stephanie
McCall, Jon and Larissa Coleman, Michael and Betsey McCall, Noah Gowin, Bethany Prichard, great-
grandchildren, Kyker, Luke, Emma, Cole, Brady, Jaylin, Hannah, Samuel, Sarah, Karaline, Ava and
Leland, sisters-in-law, Helen Kyker, Eula Kries, and Billie Kyker all of Athens, and numerous nieces,
nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Monday at Smith Funeral Home, with funeral service to follow
at 7:30 pm with the Rev. Randall Bates officiating. Graveside services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday at
Foster Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the McMahan Calvary Baptist
Church, 589 CR 172, Athens, TN 37303.
