Obituary for Hubert Cecil Kennedy

Hubert Cecil Kennedy, 89, of Athens, died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his residence.
A native of McMinn County and former resident of Texas, he was a son of the late Huff and
Julia Simpson Kennedy and step-mother Pearline Trotter Kennedy and was also preceded in
death by his wife, June Fennell Kennedy and two sons, Shawn J. and Terry Kennedy.
He attended the Sewee Church of God. He attended Tennessee Wesleyan College and was
a graduate of Tennessee Tech in Cookeville with an Electrical Engineering Degree. During his
career as an electrical engineer he worked on projects at White Sands New Mexico, Dallas
Cowboys Stadium and Dallas Fort Worth Airport. He served in the US Navy during WWII.
He is survived by two daughters, Becky Kennedy of Broomfield, Co, and Judy Howard of
Argyle, TX; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Don and Windy Kennedy, TX, Les Kennedy all
of Crowley, TX, and Tommy Kennedy of Watauga, TX; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
one sister, Maxine Newton of Yreka, CA; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Louise Kennedy of
Athens.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 am, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in the chapel of Smith
Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Partin officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for
1 hour prior to the service. A private interment for the family was held Saturday, November 2, 2013
at McMinn Memory Gardens.
