Condolence From: Jack Rohr
Condolence: I learned of Dr. Dunn's death long after the fact while doing some research on a project and reading a book that footnoted a reference to material from a book written by Dr. Durwood Dunn. Since I had a professor of history of the same name during the 1970-1971 school year at Hiwassee College, I investigated further and confirmed it was indeed the same person. Hiwassee College was likely Dr. Dunn's first teaching job, and before he attained his advanced degree. I truly enjoyed Dr. Dunn's class and found Dr. Dunn to be an excellent professor. I was very saddened to learn of his passing, but very gratified to learn of his life achievements and works. He was a quiet man of dignity and intelligence; he had a wonderful gift of teaching and he certainly will remain in my memory as an inspiring, favorite teacher in my education. My condolences to the family. Jack Rohr Abingdon, Virginia

Condolence: I have to say this Dr. Dunn was one of the toughest professors I ever had at TWC, but he was probably the smartest man I have ever known. I respected and admired him greatly. He will be missed.

Condolence: I am so sorry about Dr. Dunn's illness and death. I had him for many classes at TWC from 1976 through 1980 and he was a wonderful teacher and friend. American cultural history was one of my favorite classes ever, relying mostly on the cultural series books by Daniel Boorstin, and Dr. Dunn made them come alive. I will miss him and remember him with admiration, respect and affection.
