Obituary for Billie Gilliam (Clark)

Billie Clark Gilliam, 77, of Niota, died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
A lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Wesley H. and Rossie Raper Clark.
She was a member of Niota United Methodist Church.
She had been employed as a Bookkeeper and Secretary. She was a member of the first all-female City Commission in Niota, often called the "Golden Girls." She served one term on the Commission as Commissioner of Streets, and would occasionally ride on the back of the garbage truck.
She is survived by one sister, Hazel Conar and her family of Collierville, TN; two brothers and sisters-in law, Jack and Frances Clark and Jim and Sue Clark and their families all of Niota; and several nieces and nephews.
As per her request she was cremated. There will be no formal visitation. A graveside memorial service will
be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Niota Cemetery with Rev. Joshua Felton officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made to Niota United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 190, Niota, TN 37826.
