Barbara McIntyre Dodson, 79, of Athens, died early Monday morning, March 24, 2014 at Life Care Center of Athens
A native of Jellico and longtime resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late William C. and Edith Ridenour McIntyre.
She was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a past President of Keith United Methodist Women, past President of Cleveland District United Methodist Women and was a certified Lay speaker in the Holston Conference. She was a lifetime member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and was a former member of the Athens Pilot Club and had served as president of the club.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James R. Dodson; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Tim Jennings; one son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Ann Dodson; three granddaughters, Mary Ann Dodson, Katie (Brent) Jennings Maddron, and Kirstie Jennings and her fiancee Dylan Neely; one grandson, Will Dodson; two great-granddaughters, Annslee Maddron and Acelynn Maddron; and one sister Catherine (Cacky) Wentworth Johnson.
A funeral service will be conducted 7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Riley Huffstetler officiating. The committal service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:30 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Hugh Maughan, Richard Leamon, Jack underdown, George Cinci, Ron Lyons, Don Schultz, Jerry Howell and Buddy Kinard. Honorary pallbearers will be Home Service Class and Keith Adult Fellowship.
