Patricia "Pat" Staley Gideon, 66, of Niota, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, September 18, 2014 at her residence.

A native of McMinn County and 24 year resident of Franklin, TN, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Briscoe Staley, Jr. and was also preceded in death by her husband, James Graham Gideon and a daughter, Denyse Pickel Roberto.

She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Niota and was a member of Brentwood Baptist Church.
She was a graduate of McMinn County High School and was a graduate of Walters State Community College Nursing School as an RN. She was associated as a Research Nurse at Vanderbilt University Hospital. She enjoyed her leisure time at her residence on Watts Bar Lake, especially boating, water activities and gardening.

She is survived by her mother, Margaret Blevins Staley of Niota; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick Todd and Paulette Pickel of Rockwall, TX; grandchildren, Staley McCartney, Grantland McCartney and Colten Roberto.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm, Monday, September 22, 2014 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Niota Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:30 pm, Monday, at the funeral home prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Pat Pickel, Roger Branson, John Gaston, Collins Meigs, Mark Meigs and Charlie Meigs.
