William H. (Bill) Reinkens U.S. Army CWO3 Retired, 73, of Athens, died Tuesday afternoon, December 15, 2015 at Brookdale Assisted Living.
He was a native of Columbus, Ohio and was the son of the late Herbert L. and Edna Clifton Reinkens.
He was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years serving during the Vietnam War and the TET Offensive in 1968. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. He was one of the first Physicians Assistants while serving in the U. S. Army. He later was associated with the Correction Systems of Texas for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Barbara Ann Leach Reinkens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Katharine Sue and Curt Kimble of Hydro, OK and Karen and David Bailey of Athens; one granddaughter, Sarah LeeAnn Bailey; one grandson, Jonathan Scott Bailey; step grandchildren, Kory Kimble and his wife Teri and their children Adam, Kade and Zoie; Kristin Lovelace and her husband Cory and their children Caleb, Adelynn and Noah; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Pegge and Jimmy Foland of Huber Hgts, Ohio and Tina and Steve Arnold of Waynesville,Ohio; and his favorite dog Jitterbug..
A memorial service will be conducted, 4:00 pm, Friday, December 18, 2015 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. David Graybeal and Rev. Will Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 pm, Friday at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.
