Obituary for Robbie Jean Ensminger

Robbie Jean Ensminger of Athens went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2015. Christmas Day-what a glorious day to meet your Savior!
She was born on August 5, 1935, and was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Eva Kimbrough Ensminger, and her brother and sister-in-law, A. Earl Ensminger, Jr. and Earlyne Simpson Ensminger.
Robbie was a faithful member and loved First Baptist Church, Athens, serving through the years in many ways: as an offering counter each Sunday morning, as a singer in the church choir, as a faithful Sunday School class member, and as a servant for many funeral dinners.
Robbie was retired from and loved Tennessee Wesleyan College, where she spent 46 years from 1954 to 2000 as secretary to the college's presidents and director of the TWC Alumni Association.
Robbie was just like a second mother to her two nieces; she was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by those two nieces and their families. Judy and Robert Hays of Chattanooga and Amy and Dave McKenzie of Huntsville, AL.
She will forever be loved and remembered as Aunt Robbie by her nieces and nephews and their families. Holly and Alex Bertin (Lexi, Travis, and Tyler Bertin) of Chattanooga, Megan and Larry Miller (Callie) of Madison, AL, John David McKenzie, Jr. and Mitchell McKenzie of Huntsville, AL.
The family would like to thank very special friends on Morning Pointe Lane, Ray and Barbara Whitlock, (and Bob and Kim Whitlock Altstatt) for the love, concern, and care they've shown Robbie throughout the past years as next door neighbors. Thank you for being our eyes, ears, and hearts since we live out of town.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 29th from 11:00am-1:30pm and the funeral will follow at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 29th in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Dr. Jason Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Hays, Dave McKenzie, John David McKenzie, Mitchell McKenzie, Larry Miller, Alex Bertin, Joe Simpson, and Jay Bartley.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Tennessee Wesleyan College, 204 E. College Street, Athens, TN 37303; or First Baptist Church of Athens, 305 Ingleside Avenue, Athens, TN 37303.
