Grace Forrester Lewis, aged 97, died on Wednesday, January 13th at her home in Niota. She was a daughter of the late John and Pearl Justice Sherrill and was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Forrester, and second husband, Robert Lewis.
She was a graduate of McMinn County High School and attended Mars Hill College, in Boone, NC. She worked for many years as Cashier at the Bank of Niota and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Niota.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Erskine Mabee of Chattanooga; her son and daughter-in-law, William and Eileen Forrester of Marietta, GA; three grand-daughters ,Emily Fawcett, Catherine Mabee, and Ellen Forrester; one grand-son, Andrew Mabee; three great grand-daughters, Massey, Madison, and MacKenzie Fawcett; her step-son and his wife, Rob and Gwen Lewis of Niota; and step son-in-law, David Montgomery of Chevy Chase, MD.
The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home in Athens on Friday evening, January 22nd from 4:30 to 7:00 with a funeral service to immediately follow. An interment service will be held at 10:30 on Saturday morning, January 23rd at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Athens.
