Johnny (Johnathan) Ivan Hyler, 47, passed away, July 8, 2016,in a local hospital. He was born on April 27, 1969, and was a long time resident of Chattanooga.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Viola Hyler of East Ridge, and by his maternal grandparents Clarence Ivan Goodwin and Sarah Boyd Goodwin.
For the last six years he lived in Vermont, where he made many good friends. He loved snow skiing, hiking, and biking. He championed causes he felt deserving, reached out to the less fortunate, and was beloved by many. The ASPCA was an organization he particularly supported.
For more than twenty years he worked as an I.T. Security expert. He was a featured speaker at seminars on Information Security and was the Director of Information Security Practice in North America for N.T.T. Data.
He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his parents, John and Patricia Goodwin Hyler of Chattanooga; numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A graveside service will be conducted, 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in Riceville Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 am, Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
