Mary Virginia Erexson Sliger, 90, of Englewood, passed away Thursday morning, November 10, 2016, at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville.
She was born October 27, 1926, in Bridgeport, Illinois, to the late Harvey and Flossie Erexson. She was also preceded in death by two sisters Velma Ogalsbee and Geneva Litherland, and two brothers Leo Erexson and Leonard Erexson. It was near Bridgeport, Illinois, at the George Field Army-Air Force Base that she met and married the love of her life, Roy Sliger. They moved to Athens, Tennessee following WWII where they spent most of their married life of 71 years. She was a member of the Englewood First Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Sliger of Englewood; her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Linda Sliger of Aiken, SC; three grandchildren, Kimberly Nagy and her husband, Bruce, of Charleston, SC, Kelly Spilbor and her husband, Noel, of Summerville, SC, and Ryan Bean and his wife, Becky, of Camden, SC. The greater family includes four great-grandchildren, Wallace and Eric Mays and Bradley and Macy Bean and two step-great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Vaughn Erexson of Sarasota, FL, and Martha Denton of Franklin, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted, 4:00 pm, Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Englewood First Church of God with Pastor Richard Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 pm at the church prior to the service. The committal service will be 11:00 am, Monday at McMinn Memory Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
