Robert "Bob" Lewis Miller, of Athens, passed away on Thursday night, December 22, 2016, at the age of 74 after an extended illness.
He was born on October 3, 1942, in Athens, TN, to the late Robert "Bob" Madison and Ruth Buttram Miller. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Andrew Miller, his sister, Mary Nell Mabes, and his granddaughter, Madison LeeAnn Morrow.
Bob was a lifelong member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, graduated from McMinn County High School, attended Tennessee Wesleyan College, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Over the course of his life he had been a deejay at WLAR, had been a past member of both the Athens Jaycees and the Athens Lions Club, was a member of the McMinn County Tea Party and, while working as a real estate broker, he also served as president of the Tennessee Association of Realtors before ultimately retiring from real estate appraising.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Eric Morrow of Athens; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Stephanie Miller of Athens; a granddaughter, Lexi miller; a grandson, Drew Morrow; former wife and lifelong friend, Carla Lay Miller of Athens; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Mary Miller of Athens; two nieces, one nephew, two great-nieces and two great nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 3, 2016 in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. David Graybeal and retired Rev. Mike Hubble officiating.
There will be no formal visitation.
