Helen Dunn Kirk, 94, of Athens, died Tuesday morning, February 7, 2017 at her home.
She was a native of McMinn County and was a daughter of the late Earl Reed and Sadie Ella McKay Dunn. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law Steve Koonce.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She was a graduate of Knoxville Business College and had been associated with several banking institutions, retiring from Citizens National Bank.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, D.C. Kirk of Athens; a daughter, Janis Koonce of Athens; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Connie Kirk of Crossville; and one granddaughter, Ginger Koonce of Moorehead City, NC.
A memorial service will be conducted 5:00 pm, Thursday, February 9, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Athens with Dr. Jason Clark officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Interment will be 11:00 am, Thursday in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Dr. Jason Clark and Ginger Koonce officiating.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Lawson, Andy Yeager, Carey Hicks, Butch Smith, Steve Heath, Clif Ellis, Jim Kirk, David Heckert, and David Kirk
The family suggests memorials be made to Ten Mile Baptist Church Building Fund, Ten Mile, TN.
