Charles "Chuck" Oris Segars, 85, of Athens, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his residence.
He was a native of Red Bay, Alabama and longtime resident of Athens and was a son of the late Marvin and Earlene Messer Segars. He was also preceded in death by a son Chucky Segars.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, and he graduated from University of Missouri with a Journalism degree. He retired from TVA after 30 years of service as a Technical Report writer, and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynne Segars and Mitchell Brooks of Dalton, GA and Laurie Segars and Kevin Morrison of Stone Mountain, GA; a granddaughter, Luna Morrison.
There will be no formal visitation. A private burial will be held at a later date.
