Obituary for Betty Jo Wilson (Borden)

Betty Jo Borden Wilson, 88, of Athens, died Thursday morning, August 24, 2017 at NHC of Athens.
Betty was a native of Loudon County and a longtime resident of McMinn County. She was a daughter of the late Joe H. and Victoria Key Borden and was also preceded in death by her husband Rev. L. Keith Wilson, sisters, Clara Ruth Tefftiler and Virginia Eddington, Geneva Smallen, Beatrice Turnam, and Louise Lanely, brothers, Everett Borden and J.W. Borden, and a brother-in-law Bobby Taylor.
She was a longtime member of Cog Hill Baptist Church, where she kept the nursery for over 50 years.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Larry Gann of Riceville, Jo Ann and Danny Wilson of Etowah, and Shirley and Rev. Garry King of Riceville; one son and daughter-in-law, L. Keith, Jr. and Annie Wilson of Edmond, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchild; a sister, Benita Taylor of Maryville; two brothers, Arthur Borden, Jr. of Knoxville, and Marvin Borden of Lexington, KY.; several nieces and nephews; a special great granddaughter, Kenli Hill ; sister-in-law, Joanne Borden of Knoxville, and a special daughter, Glenda Kelly of Athens.
A funeral service will be conducted, 8:00 pm, Friday, August 25, 2017 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Davis and Rev. Wendell Puett officiating. The committal service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, August 26, 2017 in Cog Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm Friday, at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge #653 of Etowah.
