Julius Spigner Roberson, 95, of the Cumberland Hills community nearAthens , died Sunday evening, December 17, 2017 at East Tennessee Health Care in Madisonville.
Julie was born in Osceola, Arkansas on September 26, 1922 to Troy and Belvie South Spigner . She married the love of her life, James (Shorty) on December 1, 1944 they moved to Zion, Illinois in 1950 and lived there until 1980 moving to Mississippi and then onto Athens, TN in 1987 until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Belvie Spigner; husband James (Shorty) Roberson in 1981; two sons Jimmy Roberson and Talmadge Roberson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah Lodeska(Clovis) Tyra and Eula Bee (William Hugh) Sheffield, and a brother and sister-in-law, G. C. (Sarah) Spigner.
She was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church in Athens, TN where she was welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home from the beginning. Thank you to everyone in the Home Service Class, she loved her time there so much.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Julia and Charles O'Connor of Englewood and Janice and Kevin Schuster of Morrisville, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Rea Roberson of Englewood,Florida; grandcildren, Jon(Sheryl) Roberson, Alyssa (Jason) Bowman, James Edward Roberson, Patrick O'Connor, Shannon (Gabe) Beck, Kory Schuster, and Keri (Andrew) Slomick; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Nita Spigner of Marietta,MS.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:30 pm, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at McNeese-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie, Mississippi. Interment will follow in Ozark Cemetery in Mantachie, MS. The family will receive friends at McNeese-Morris Funeral Home from 11:30-1:30 pm Thursday prior to the service.
