Condolences

Condolence From: Carol and Dan Ragan
Condolence: Wally and I were friends since he was fourteen, when he moved to Wytheville and his father pastored St. Paul Methodist Church. One of my fondest memories was a road trip to visit Carson Newman College. It seems some dishwashing detergent wound up in their duck pond/fountain and nearly killed the ducks. I will never forget MYF and Job's Daughters dances, Soul Inc., being mischievous, and just having fun. After Wally graduated from seminary, Jane Bocock and I went to hear him preach at his first church in Tazewell, Virginia. There we met his beautiful wife, Beverly, a former Delta flight attendant. Every time I was around Wally, he had something profound to say...he had his wonderful way of teaching. Wally and Bev would often visit Dan and me at our home in Bristol. Wally always had his guitar, and he delighted in playing and singing. I recall that Wally loved to play 'The Leader of the Band" and relate the song to his father, Rev. Wallace Fowler, Sr. We continued to keep in close touch and visit frequently when Wally took the church in Mount Carmel, Tennessee; that's when Meredith and Matthew were born. They were about the same age as our Keith, Drew, and William. There are many, many more memories...far too many to share. I do not have the words to adequately express my feelings of loss. I loved Wally Fowler and I will see him again one day when we meet in heaven. Isaiah 55:12 "You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you."
