Marianne Kirchbauer Thomas, 87, of Decatur, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at NHC of Athens.
She was a native of Fussen, Germany and a longtime resident of McMinn and Meigs counties, and was a daughter of the late Josephine Kirchbauer. She was also preceded in death by her husband Harter H. Thomas and a son Harter (Hud) Thomas.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens. She was the Activities Director for McMinn Memorial Nursing Home for 35 years. She loved the Lady Vols, and was a great animal lover. She was an avid card player.
Marianne is survived by two sons and their spouses, Bill and Debbie Thomas of Decatur and John and Bridget Thomas of Johnson City, TN; two grandsons, Brian and Britt Thomas; and three great-granddaughters.
A funeral service will be conducted, 7:00 pm, Friday, February 16, 2018 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Dr. Jason Clark officiating. The committal service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday prior to the service.
Pallbearer will be family and friends.
