Obituary for Nellie Mae Sneed (Slack)

Nellie Mae Slack Sneed, 93, of the Wildwood Community near Englewood, died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Starr Regional Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a daughter of the late Richard and Callie Wilson Slack. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James Clyde Sneed, Sr., her son James Clyde Sneed, Jr., and four brothers , Carson Slack, Ray Slack, Paul Slack and Troy Slack.
She joined Wildwood Baptist Church on October 7, 1942 from Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of Englewood Order of Eastern Starr #491 (she joined March 17, 1973), she was Worthy Matron (with her husband as Worthy Patron) in 1973, 1974 and 1985. She was Grand Representative to Louisiana from Tennessee from 1987-1989.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Sneed Agan and her husband, Jerry M. Agan, Sr of Elizabethton TN; sons, Samuel Dean Sneed and his wife Deborah Walden Sneed of Lyles TN, and Tim Sneed and his wife Kelly Andrews Sneed of Cookeville TN; 12 grandchildren, Michelle Agan Saffell, Jerry M. Agan, Jr., Michael Agan, Christopher Dean Sneed, Samantha Lacheta, Clinton Dean Sneed, James Clyde Sneed, III, Callie Sneed, Brynn Lane, Dana Lane, Timothy Ray Sneed, Jr. and Thomas Horton Sneed; 19 great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Saffell, Amanda Saffell Forehand, Levi Saffell, Jerry M. Agan, III, Savannah Agan Peters, Grace Agan, Jordan Agan, Brianna Agan Powers, Colton Agan, Abigayle Agan, Bailey Sneed, Layla Sneed, Kammie Sneed, Colton Dean Sneed, Cailin McKenzie, Hudson McKenzie, Katie Sullivan, Peyton Cole Sneed and Vincent Sneed; 6 great-great-grandchildren, Micah Saffell, Hailey Saffell, Carson Forehand, Jase Forehand, Garyn Saffell, and Elisabeth Agan; two sisters, Betty Slack Rowland and Ruth Slack McElhaney of Englewood; one very special sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Slack and a very special friend, Ann Wilkes.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:30 pm, Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Vest officiating. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Monday, March 26, 2018, at the Smith Funeral Home
Pallbearers will be Dickie Slack, Chris Sneed, Clint Sneed, Richie David, Robbie Davis, Will Vest, Jed McNeeley, Pat McElhaney, and Rusty Davis.
