Rebecca (Becky) Melton Cook, 79, of Athens, died Saturday morning, April 28, 2018 at Grace Health Care of Decatur.
She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a daughter of the late Leigh and Beulah Ware Melton. She was also preceded in death by her husband William A. Cook, and sisters, Annette Wade and Hazel Riden.
She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Athens where she was a church Secretary for 18 years, and she was a former member of Christ Community Church of Athens, and was presently a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church. She was a graduate of McMinn County High School class of 1956 and had attended Tennessee Wesleyan University.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Barry Johnson of Hampton, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Anna Cook of Ten Mile and son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Cherie Cook of Charleston; one granddaughter, Shelby Ogle; five grandsons, Zach Cook, Seth Cook, Evan Johnson, Daniel Johnson, and Cory Cook; two great grandchildren, Elan and Avi Ogle; 2 sisters, Freda Fowlkes, of Nashville and Catherine Melton of Athens; and an aunt, Martha Ann Sullins of Athens,
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 2nd at McMinn Memory Gardens with Rev. Carlos Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home Tuesday, May 1st from 4:30-7:00 pm .
Pallbearers will be family members. Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Allgood and Gill Balch.
