Obituary for Mary Ann Elrod (Hutsell)

Mary Ann Hutsell Elrod, 80, of Athens, died Wednesday night November 7, 2018 at Hospice of Chattanooga Care Center.
She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was the daughter of the late Kendall and Pauline (Polly) Boyd Hutsell. She was also preceded in death by a brother Paul Hutsell, and a step-son Keith Elrod.
Mary Ann died the same way she lived her life with Faith, Courage, and Love.
She was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church and was a graduate of the McMinn County High School Class of 1956. Mary Ann was a member and on the Board of Directors of Bowater Retiree Club, and was a faithful member of the Luncheon Pilot Club where she held several offices and was a past President. She was associated with Bowater as an Executive Secretary for 35 years until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry D. Elrod of Athens; one son and daughter-in-law, David A. and Ronda Boyd of Athens; one granddaughter, Joselyn Lee; one grandson, David Boyd, II; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy(Phil) Hadorn of Athens and Peggy Allmon; one brother Kenny (Sylvia) Hutsell of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 6:00 pm, Sunday, November 11, 2018 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. David Graybeal and Rev. Mike Hubble officiating. The committal service will be 11:00 am, Monday, November 12, 2018 at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:30-5:30 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Morris, Phil Hadorn, Don Schultz, Roger Massengill, Dean Small, Kenny Hutsell, Randy Hadorn, Dicky Simpson, and Mitchell Shope.
The family wishes to thank all family, friends and members of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church for their prayers and support during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga and the staff of Erlanger Hospital.
