Mildred Diane McMahan Cormell, 75, of Athens, died Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Etowah Health Care.
She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a daughter of the late Harry and Vivian Wiggins McMahan. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Amy Suzanne and Elizabeth Cormell, a son, Robert Earl Cormell, and grandparents, Bessie and John Wiggins.
Diane was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church and was a member of Tennessee Commission on Ageing and Disabilities. Diane obtained her R.N. degree from East Tennessee Baptist Hospital School of nursing, and was an R.N. on the Labor and Delivery wing of Athens Regional now Starr Regional Medical Center for several years until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Edward Cormell of Athens; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Susie Cormell of Walnut, Mississippi.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 8, 2018 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Byron Talbot officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
