Obituary for Joseph Schickler
Joseph "Joe" Schickler, 74, of Athens, died Monday, January 21, 2019 at his home.
He was a native of Brooklyn, NY and was a son of the late Morris and Irene Siegel Schickler.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and for twenty one years in the U.S. Air Force National Guard Reserve. He was a Police officer for 21 years with the NYPD, and most recently had also worked with the Tennessee Dept of Children's Services. He was a graduate of New York University.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Zoila Schickler of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lynn Schickler of Athens and Robert and Lizz Schickler of Corvallis, Oregon; and a grandson, Chris Schickler.
There will be no formal service. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm Friday, January 25th at Smith Funeral Home concluding with military honors.
