Obituary for Glenn Edward Lawson
Glenn Edward Lawson, 90, of Athens, died Friday, May 17, 2019 at Lakeland Villa in Lakeland, Georgia after an extended illness. Until 2012 he was a resident of McMinn County and a son of the late Frank E. Lawson and Willie Mae (Bill) Morrow Lawson. He is predeceased by his wife, Earlane Hamby Lawson and his in-laws, J. E. Hamby and Rosa Webb Hamby.
Surviving are his children, Amy (Speedy) Wade and Jeff (Ellen) Lawson; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Terri Sue) Lawson, Jennifer Lawson and Jonathan (Candace) Wade and six great-grandchildren; Preston Smith, Grayson Russell, Addie Mae Wade, Avery Davis, Sumter Wade and Olivia Lawson.
Glenn was the Advertising Manager at The Daily Post Athenian for 20 years before going to work for Goody’s in 1972 as VP of Marketing.
A graveside service will be conducted, 10:00 am, Saturday, June 8, 2019 at McMinn Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends after the service at a location to be announced.
The family suggests memorials be made to Friendly Fellow Club of Athens, P.O. Box 220, Athens, TN; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-Tribute, P.O. Box 1000, Dept.142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
