A lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Eliaz and Elizabeth Shoemaker Kilpatrick and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Shepherd and Lorine Haire and a brother, Ernest Kilpatrick. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Niota. She was formerly associated with Dobbins Air Force Base Civil Service and was a former member of the Niota City Council when it was an all female council.
She is survived by one son, W.C. Young of League City, TX, three grandsons, William K. Young and his wife Lori, Aaron C. Young, and Patrick L. Armstrong and his wife Lori, two great-grandchildren, Tara and Blake Young, one brother and sister-in-law, Lt. Col. USAF Retd. Arnett E. and Joyce W. Kilpatrick of Riceville, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, William Edmonson of Athens.
