Willie Margaret (Bill) Haney Underdown, 98, of Athens, died peacefully Thursday night, May 12, 2016.
She was born in Murphy, North Carolina but spent most of her life in McMinn County, and was a daughter of the late Benjamin Luther and Mary Jo Rogers Haney. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Clay McKlwee Underdown.
She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was known for her sense of style which she put to good use working in several retail clothing stores in Athens. She took great pride in her flowers and garden.
She is survived by a daughter Barbara Jo Darling and son-in-law, James Patrick Darling (Col. U.S. Army Ret.) of Chattanooga; and a granddaughter, Dr. Jama Margaret Darling of Chapel Hill, NC.
There will be no formal visitation.
There will be a private family graveside in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Dr. Jay Ferguson officiating.
