Marion Allen Perry, 79, of Benton, died early Thursday morning, June 9, 2016 at his home.
He was a native of McMinn County and was a son of the late Marion H. and Mary Bohannon Perry. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marian Perry; and three brothers, Eldon, Vernon, and Rolin Perry.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Benton. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a truck driver and farmer by trade.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Ellis Perry of Benton; one son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Carolyn Perry of Benton; four grandchildren, Sky Perry, Sebrina Burger, Michael Landrum, and Nicholas Landrum; four great-grandchildren, Gabby Burger, M.J. Burger, Brianna Landrum and Eli Landrum; four brothers, Edsel Perry of Adam, New York, William (Bill) Perry , Marion Perry, Jr. and Jerry Perry all of Riceville; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 12:00 noon, Sunday, June 12, 2016 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyle Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens with military honors provided by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:30 am, Sunday prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be M.J. Burger, Jason Farr, Rodney Hicks, Mark Burger, Steve Thompson, Les Harris, Michael Landrum, Nick Landrum, Joseph Ellis, and Allen Dean.
