Obituary for Margaret Fisher (McIntire)

Margaret McIntire Fisher, 92, of Athens, died Friday morning, June 10, 2016 at Starr Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Bradley County and longtime resident of McMinn County. She was a daughter of the late William and Annie Harmon McIntire. She was also preceded in death by her husband James Emerson (Jim) Fisher, a daughter Dr. Ellen Fisher Raines and an infant son Mickey James Fisher.
She was a 72 year member of First Baptist Church of Athens where she loved attending Sunday School and Worship Services. She attended Cleveland City Schools and was a graduate of Bradley County High School. She attended Tennessee Wesleyan College. She was always a Room Mother at Ingleside and City Park Elementary schools when her daughters were attending there. She was active in Civil Defense Ground Observatory during the Korean War. Margaret was the last surviving founding member of the Garden Beautiful Garden Club. She helped organized the Grey Ladies Volunteer Program at Epperson Hospital, and served Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Athens Arts Council, Living Heritage Museum, and Friends of the Library. She was a patron of the Athens-Cleveland Cottillion, was President of Springbrook Women's Golf Association for many years and was Springbrook Country Club Women's Golf Champion in 1961, 1963, 1965, 1966 and 1968. She played golf until she was 90 years old. Margaret loved playing bridge, reading, traveling and volunteering. She was a loving, Christian, wife and mother.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bunny and Richard Browder of Riceville; one granddaughter and her husband, Laura Shelton McGee and Raymond McGee Grand River, KY; two great-grandchildren, Anna Grace and James Luke McGee of Grand River, KY; one sister, Anna McIntire Sahlberg of Cleveland; two nieces, Deborah Sahlberg of Stuart, FL and Leanne McIntire Stinnett of Cleveland; two nephews, Bob McIntire of Cleveland and Gary Chisholm of Cleveland; and a son-in-law, Lee Raines of Knoxville.
A graveside service will be conducted, 1:00 pm, Monday, June 13, 2016 at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Dr. Jason Clark officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life and receiving of friends from 2:00-4:00 pm at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall following the graveside service on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Bo Perkinson, Carey Hicks, Craig Lee, Bob McIntire, Robby McIntire, Jake Smiley, Larry Rhodes, Keith Barton and Glen Allen.
The family would like to thank Dr. Vickie Turnbough, Dr. Richard Sharpe, Jody Mason RN, and Staff at NHC, and the Staff of Morning Pointe for their loving care of Margaret.
