Obituary for Connie Jeanne Yetter (Mazza)

Connie Jeanne Mazza Yetter of Athens, TN passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 4, 2016.
She was a native of Bangor, PA and a resident of Athens, TN for the past 10 years. She was the wife of the late Larry W. Yetter, Sr. and the daughter of the late John Mazza and Verna Reichard Mazza Horn. She was a long time member of the First United Evangelical Congregational Church in Bangor, PA and sang in the choir for most all of that time. She was also an active member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church in Athens, TN where she sang in the choir and served as Treasurer of United Methodist Women's Circle. She served on the Cleveland District UMW. She was known as Grandma Connie to many children as she volunteered at Vacation Bible School. She was a graduate of Allentown School of Nursing where she received her RN degree. She was proprietor of Bangor Hardware and Paint for 20 years before returning to work as a nurse at Slate Belt Medical Center.
Following retirement, she served the Lord by working with the Servants On Wheel Ever Ready (SOWERS) ministry. This work involved performing volunteer work on projects at various Christian ministries throughout the United States. She was very active with Scouting as a Den Mother with Cub Scout Pack 83 in Bangor, PA. She was supportive and very proud of her son and both grandsons achievement of Eagle Scout. She also supported the community in many ways including Heritage Museum Quilt Guild, Devotional Leader for McMinn County Family Community Education club, and a member of the Bangor Centennial Committee. She was an accomplished quilter having won many local and state awards and was well known for her hand-made cards which brought joy to all who received them.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Larry W. Yetter, Jr. and Bonnie S. Yetter of Mont Vernon, NH; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Yetter Mishtal and Joseph P. Mishtal of Athens, TN; five grandchildren, Corrie Yetter, Gary Plante, Kelly Yetter, Aaron Mishtal and David Mishtal; two great-grandchildren, Lyllia Plante and Dylan Plante; and one sister, Janet Mazza Houck.
A memorial service will be held 5:00 pm, Friday, September 9, 2016, at Keith Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. David Graybeal and Rev. Will Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends ifrom 3:00-5:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
