Elizabeth Ann Burns Nichols, 90, of Athens, entered Heaven's gates on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at her home.
She was born on September 15, 1925 to the late Robert L. and Arizona Murphy Burns. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward E. Nichols, Sr., two daughters, Brenda Fay and Trula Mae Nichols and a granddaughter Tammy Nichols. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother, who enjoyed her flower gardens.
She is survived by 5 daughters, Farris Vaughn, Martha Floyd, Tina Nichols, Carol Nichols and Edwina Nichols; 4 sons and two daughters-in-law, Edward E. Nichols, Jr., Doug and Phyllis Nichols, Tim and Tammy Nichols and Steven Nichols all of Athens; 12 grandchildren, Theresa, Wayne, Arvella, Doyle, Greg, Allen, Adam, Priscilla, English, Matt, Amanda, and Deana; along with several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was of the Baptist faith.
A funeral service will be conducted, 7:00 pm, Friday in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Jackson officiating. Family and friends will meet at Smith Funeral Home Saturday at 9:30 am to go in precession to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 10 am committal service. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
