Anna Ruth Brown of Athens, 85, passed away, surrounded by loving family, on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Life Care Center.
She was a daughter and one of eleven children of the late Elbert and Flossie Crawford and was preceded in death by her husband G. E. Brown, infant son Donald Thomas Brown and daughter-in-law, Susan Suarez Brown. She was a co-owner and operator of Brownie’s Restaurant along with her husband G. E. and family members J.D. and Anna Ray Brown, Florence Brown, and Mary Peace, until her retirement in the early 1980’s. Ruth was of Protestant faith and enjoyed music and reading, especially Shakespeare.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, G. David Brown and Jan Burleson of Athens, Dennis and Mary Brown of Athens, Duane and Jerri Brown of Wendell, NC, Dale and Ashley Brown and Doug and Leigh Brown of Huntsville, AL, and her brother, Homer Crawford, of McMinn County. She has ten grand children; Brandy Brown, Lauren & Chris Shepherd, Sarah Beth and T.J. Roberts, Matthew and Jeb Brown of Athens, Harrison Brown of Mobile, AL, Callan Brown of Tampa, FL, Tosh Brown of Birmingham, AL, Clay Brown of Wendell, NC, and Alex Brown of Huntsville, AL. She had four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Aubrey and Ava Peake and Sloane Shepherd. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday, June 30th at Trinity United Methodist Church with visitation at 1 pm, followed with the funeral service at 2 pm.
