Obituary for Steve Garren

Steve Garren, 60, of Athens died Wednesday morning, August 29, 2018 at his residence.
He was a longtime resident of McMinn County and was a son of the late Billy Vernon Garren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Tammy Arterburn and Cindy Garren.
He was a member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid Nascar and U.T. Sports fan and was associated with Texas Hydraulics for many years as a machinist.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Betty and Ronnie Albert of Athens; daughter, Rebecca Garren of Knoxville; son, Matthew Garren of Kennesaw, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Alisa and Greg Morris of Camden, SC; step-sister, Tabitha Chaney of Crossville; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Billy Joe and Jennifer Garren of Andersonville, TN and Justin Garren of Athens; mother of his children, Sally Jaquish Garren of Athens; many nieces and nephews, and many relatives in Louisiana and Texas.
A funeral service will be conducted, 7:00 pm, Friday, August 31, 2018 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Garry King officiating. The committal service will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 1st at McMinn Memory Gardens with military honors at the graveside provided by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Dolan, Chris Gray, David Dolan, Dale Hammonds, Shane Odum, Joel Savage, Sean Morris, Micky Croft, and Wayne Kyker.
