Obituary for Mark Jeffrey Case

Mark Jeffrey Case, 61, of Athens, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family, Friday, September 14, 2018.
He was a long time resident of McMinn County and was a son of the late John McGary Case. He was also preceded in death by a brother David Case.
He had attended Family Worship Center in Lakeland, Florida and was a longtime member of the VFW Post 5146 where he worked tirelessly on all projects. He was associated with Case Trucking and was a handyman always willing to help others and gave without expecting anything in return. He was also a member of the BPOE #1927.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Shaw Case of Athens; mother, Sally Coates Case of Athens; daughter, Jennifer Case of Boston, MA; son, Matthew Case of Athens; step sons, Joseph, Michael and Wayne Basile of Lakeland, FL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Barry Michael of Danville, KY and Sandy and Steve Walker of Riceville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Col. John M. Jr and Bonnie Case of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX, Thomas and Linda Case of Athens, and Robert and Anita Case of Niota; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and June Shaw of Coker Creek; sister-in-law and her husband, Kim and Wayne Baxter of Sweetwater; many aunts, uncles,nieces and nephews; and a multitude of other loving family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted, 12:30 pm, Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Perry Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mike, Kevin, Ryan, Jason, Matthew, Robby, and Adam Case.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The VFW Post 5146 Christmas Basket Project (which was one of Mark's favorite projects to support), 706 N. Congress Parkway, Athens, TN 37303.
