Obituary for James Howard "Jimmie" Hornsby Jr.

James Howard (Jimmie) Hornsby,Jr, 93, of Decatur, died Monday night, October 29, 2018 at Starr Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Allensville, Kentucky,
was a lifelong resident of Meigs County, and was a son of the late James Howard, Sr and Lizzie Lee Prince Hornsby. He was also preceded in death by a sister Jane E. Hopper, and a brother Jackson Prince Hornsby.
He was a member of the Decatur United Methodist Church and was previously a longtime member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church . He had attended the McCallie School and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He was a well known farmer in Meigs County and was active in several agricultural organizations. He was past president of the Meigs County Farm Bureau. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII as a waist gunner on a B24.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anne Elderkin Hornsby of Decatur; two sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Kristy Hornsby of Decatur and David E. and Rachel Hornsby of Nashville; two granddaughters, Suzanne and Anna Li; four grandsons, Samuel, James, Brad, and Jack; and step-grandchildren, Dalton, Logan, Hunter and Onna.
A funeral service will be conducted, 2:00 pm, Friday, November 2, 2018 at Decatur United Methodist Church with Rev. Will Conner and Rev. Mike Hubble officiating. Interment will follow in Peak, Brown, Hornsby Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm, Friday at the church prior to the service.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
