Obituary for Charles Wayne "Wayne" Parkinson

Charles Wayne Parkinson, 86, of Riceville, died Saturday morning, February 23, 2019 at Life Care Center of Athens.
He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was the son of the late Charlie and Ruth Millard Parkinson. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Hall Parkinson.
He was a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He owned and operated the Parkinson Food King in Riceville for many years, and then was a Commodity Auditor for the State of Tennessee Dept. of Agriculture until his retirement.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Rebeccah and Craig Segrest of Piney Flats, TN, Jean and Mike Grayson of Athens, and Penny and Andre Killer of Alpharetta, GA; one son, Greg and Linda Wilson of Rockwood, TN; five grandchildren. Ashley Turner, Hope Adams, Jason Farris, Aidan Killer, Shawn Wilson; three great-grandchildren; and the mother of his daughter Rebeccah, Barbara Dodson Parkinson of Johnson City,TN.
A funeral service will be conducted, 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 26,2019 at Eastanellee Baptist Church with Rev. Bo Dunkle, Lee Parkison and Mike Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in Eastanallee Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:30 pm at the church prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Jason Farris, Lee Parkison, Steve Parkinson, Josh Turner, Andrej Killer, and Bruce Dodson.
The family would like to thank Life Care Center of Athens for their excellent care of Wayne.
