Obituary for Jeffery Ellis Sliger
Jeffery E. Sliger, 51, of Decatur and formerly of Athens, died Monday morning, March 4, 2019 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was a native of McMinn County ,and preceded in death by maternal grandparents, John R. and Mildred Humphreys, paternal grandparents, Corbit and Hazel Sliger, and a sister, Sabrina Sliger.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens, and was a graduate of McMinn County High School and attended the McMinn County Vocational School. He was associated with Polyform in Decatur in the shipping department.
He is survived by his father and mother, Ellis and Frances Humphreys Sliger of Athens; uncles and spouses, William P. and Patricia Humphreys of Madisonville, Gene and Pat Sliger and David Sliger of Athens; aunts and spouses, Joyce and Wayne Widener of Delano and Janice and Allen Bowman of Athens; several cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 7, 2019 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Carroll Golden officiating. Interment will follow in Sweetwater Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Sliger, Chuck Sliger, Kevin Sliger, Brett Widener, Scott Seaton, and Brett Carter.
