Obituary for Cecil Ray Martin

Cecil Ray Martin, 87, of Athens, died Saturday 30, 2019 at Life Care Center of Athens.
He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a son of the late Horace and Ruby Haney Martin. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Lorene Triplett Martin and a brother, Leon Martin.
He was of the Baptist Faith and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was associated with TVA and Haren Construction as a carpenter until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Miller Martin of Athens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Arlin Slack of Englewood and Diane and Mike Turner of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Linda Scoggins of Tellico Plains and Buddy and Jimmie Sue Martin of Englewood; one granddaughter; four grandsons; four great-grandsons; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will meet for a graveside service to be conducted at 2:00pm, Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at McMinn Memory Gardens with Rev. Stanley Hammonds officiating with military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force. There will be no formal visitation.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association NE/SE TN Chapter, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 22, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
