Obituary for Jean Avery Millard (Martin)

Jean Avery Martin Millard, of Marietta, Georgia and a native of Savannah. She attended St. Vincent's Academy. As a single Mother she worked at Kennickell Printing Company and Savannah Bank and Trust to support her two children. She was always out spoken, determined and quick to give you her beautiful warm smile. She always put her children first. She loved to read, loved a good movie and loved her dogs. Anyone on her heart was showered with cards, emails, and calls. You always knew she was thinking about you. Let's not forget her love for holiday decorating. Not one square inch in her home was spared holiday handmade trimmings, mechanical, musical, and colorful items all came to life with her imagination and gift for making it magical.
She unexpectedly passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 28, 2019 in Marietta, Georgia. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt.
She is survived by her husband, Edward H. Millard of Marietta and formerly of Athens, TN; her children, Calvin (Crystal) Haupt, Regina (Jim) Kourafas), Cathey (Lew) Hansen, and Ellen Millard; grandchildren, Alexa (Mike) Longfellow, Nick (Aimee) Kourafas, Caroline, C.J., Avery (whom is named after her), and Ian; great-grandchild, Catherine, and a niece, Angela Henry.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm, Friday, April 5, 2019, at Smith Funeral Home, 1010 South White Street, Athens, TN 37303, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 pm, at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. Jessica Boyce officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made to Small Paws (Pet Rescue) 5287 Covington Hwy, Decatur, Georgia 30035.
