Obituary for Connie Vincent (Borden)

Connie Borden Vincent loving wife, mother and nana, 62, of Decatur, TN, passed away Monday morning, November 11, 2019 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
She was a native of McMinn County and longtime resident of Decatur. She was a lifetime member of Englewood United Methodist Church. She was a daughter of the late Jerry and Elaine Ferguson Borden and was also preceded in death by a brother Rodney Borden and a nephew Beau Borden.
Connie will be dearly missed by those that knew her. There was no such thing as a favor too large to ask of her. The love she had for her family knew no limits. Her laughter, her smile only masked her competitive spirit. If you ever played Pictionary with her, you know that there was no masking that spirit. Connie fiercely loved her family! Raising her two children was one of the greatest joys of her life. During those years when her youngest child started kindergarten, Connie started college. She was a full-time mother as well as a full-time student, earning not only her degree, but doing it with top honors. The impact she had on those she loved was immeasurable, and although our time with her was cut short, the memories are everlasting.

Connie graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan University on May 4, 1991, Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 average and was ranked first in her class. She was a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society. She received a masters degree from Tusculum University. She was associated with Meigs County Board of Education for 22 years as a school teacher until her retirement in 2013.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, T.R. Vincent of Decatur; one daughter and her husband, Heather and Daniel Atkinson of Athens; one son and his wife, Chris and Becky Vincent of Edmond, OK; two granddaughters, Josie Vincent and Gracie Atkinson; one grandson, Brady Vincent; a sister and her spouse, Lisa and Jerry Miller of Englewood and a brother, Mike Borden of Soddy Daisy; and four nieces and nephews, Sydney Huffman, Courtney Jenkins, Hunter Borden, and Dylan Miller.
