Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Schumpert (Risher)
Mary Elizabeth Risher Schumpert, 93, of Ten Mile, died Friday morning, December 27, 2019 at Dominion Assisted Living.
She was a native of Springfield, South Carolina and longtime resident of Meigs County and was a daughter of the late Eldon Daniel and Geraldine Porter Risher.
She was also preceded in death by her husband C.O. Schumpert, a daughter Teresa Coleman, granddaughter Natalie Coleman, great-granddaughter LaShea Anderson, and sisters, Ann Tisdale and Connie Steed.
She was a member of Ten Mile United Methodist Church where she was a member of United Methodist Women and FCA.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Frances and Carey Bishop of Ten Mile, Deborah Schumpert of Tellico Village, Rosie and Bobby Maddron of Charleston; son-in-law, Darrell Coleman of Knoxville; ten grandchildren, twelve great-granchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Don Risher of Chester,VA.
A memorial service will be conducted, 3:00 pm, Sunday, December 29th at Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Brown officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00-3:00 pm Sunday prior to the service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorials be made to Holston Children's Home, 404 Holston Drive, Greeneville, TN 37743.
