Obituary for Levina Helen "Nanny" Bishop (Bishop)

Levina Helen (Nanny) Dodson Bishop, 92, of Athens, died Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the residence of her granddaughter Carey Anne Garrett in Etowah.
She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a daughter of the late Oliver and Marie Pickens Dodson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, W. D. Bishop, Jr, granddaughter, LaShea Anderson, brother, Buddy Dodson and his wife Jean.
She loved spending time with her family, cooking and sitting on the porch. She was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church.
Levina is survived by twin sons, Gary (Dian) Bishop of Loudon, and Carey (Frances) Bishop of Ten Mile; grandchildren, Carey Anne (Trampus) Garrett of Etowah, Travis (Stephanie) Bishop of Tellico, and Chad Bishop of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Trevor, John, Tyler, Natasha, William, Lexi, and Sheleah; sister, Martha McDowell of Riceville; brother, Don (Betty) Dodson of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted, 11:00 am , Friday, January 31th at Double Springs Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Porter officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday, January 30th.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Caris Hospice for their loving care of Levina.
