Obituary for Dorothy Bernice Minge (Bryson)
Bernice Bryson Owen Minge, 92 years, of Athens, died Wednesday evening, January 29, 2020 at Starr Regional Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was the daughter of the late John D. and Susan Almeda Sharp Bryson. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Jack H, Owen in 1969 and her second husband Emerson Minge in 2007, her son, Jack R.. Owens, two brothers Howard and Lawton Bryson, and two sisters Mildred Dake and Irene Guffey.
She was of the Baptist faith. Bernice was associated with First National Bank and then worked with the Tennessee Dept. of Unemployment office until her retirement.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Debra Owen of Germantown, TN; two step-children, Linda Dennis and Harry Minge; 4 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and many friends that loved her dearly.
A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lake Walker officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the memorial service. A private burial will be at a later date.
