Obituary for Jesse H "Jess" Guinn
Jesse Hamilton, (Jess) Guinn, Jr., 85, passed peacefully at his home on the Hiwassee River in Delano, TN on Monday, February 17, 2020.
He was a successful businessman, with a great knowledge and expertise in constructing large tunnels for underground utilities and in later years, working with Athens Utilities Board. Jess travelled extensively for business and pleasure, and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse, Sr. and Elizabeth Long Guinn and a son Stephen Douglas Guinn.
Jess is survived by his wife, Janna Hawkins of Delano; daughter, Susan Elaine Guinn of Riceville; son, Michael Anthony Guinn of St. Petersburg, FL; sister, Charlotte (Sissy) and Jimmy Miller of Nashville; several nieces and his faithful furry "kids", Romey and Cinnamon.
Special thanks for the compassionate care provided by Amedysis Hospice of Athens, his "love him like a son" friend Dr. Charles Cox, true and wonderful friend Dennis Waters of Benton, and the support and many visits by his Bojangles' buddies.
A celebration of Jess's life will be held at a later date to be announced.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to McMinn Regional Humane Society, 219 Alford Street, Athens, TN 37303.
