Coach Rogers was my basketball coach at Birchwood in the late 1950s. He was patient, caring and a good man. My condolences.

I played basketball for Coach Rogers at Tyner High School and majored in Science, so I saw him in both roles almost daily. He was a true gentleman, a meek and caring mentor to clueless kids like me. I will never forget his smile when telling me I needed to memorize the table of basic elements. Great man. Great legacy! --Paul Keckley, Tyner High Class of '67

We cherish the memory of James L. Rogers. We became friends when he and Peggy joined Beaver Dam Baptist Church of Knoxville, and continued our friendship with Jim after Peggy passed away. We have many copies of his poetry, and treasure stories of his past enjoyment of teaching and coaching . He shared with us some memories of sports he had played and coached, especially tennis and basketball. Above all, he displayed a life of loving the Lord, and his dear family. He was truly an inspiration to us Our love , prayers, and deepest sympathy to his daughter, Laura and husband, David Kindle; and granddaughter, Megan and husband, Michael.

Mr. Rogers was my chemistry teacher at Tyner High School in Chattanooga in the late 1960's. He was a wonderful teacher and coach. My senior class dedicated our class yearbook in his honor in 1967. I offer my sincere condolences to his family.
