Obituary for Zelma Lea Arnold (Thompson)
Zelma Lea Arnold, 91,of Athens, TN passed away, Thursday, May 7, 2020, in St. Simons Island, GA where she relocated 6 years ago to be near her daughter.
She was born in McMinn County on April 11, 1929 to the late A.T.(Tommy) and Essie Campbell Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband Maynard Arnold, a brother-in-law Grant Helm, and nephew Stephen Helm.
She was a member of North Athens Baptist Church. She was associated with White Westinghouse until her retirement, and was associated with Walmart for 15 years after her retirement. She enjoyed doing Genealogy research in her spare time.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Patrick McGee of St. Simon Island, GA; granddaughters, Meredith (Christopher) Dodson and Lauren McGee; great grandson, McCoy Dodson;; sister, Virginia Helm; nieces, Teresa (Rich) Bruse and Denise (Fred) Adams; nephew, Gary Helm; and great nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service for family only will be conducted at Rogers Creek Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation or service due to the COVID-19.
