Obituary for Roger Dale Parks

Roger Dale Parks, 69, of Cleveland, died Friday afternoon, May 29th at his residence.
He was a native of McMinn County and was the son of the late George C.( G.C) and Dorothy Ellis Parks. He was also preceded in death by a son Jonathan Tyler Parks.
He was a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church. Roger was a graduate of McMinn County High School in 1969 and was a graduate of Tennessee Technology University where he received a Degree in Health, PE and Biology, a Master's Degree in Education Administration.

He began his coaching career at Putnam County High School in Cookeville, TN. He than transferred to McMinn County High School coaching under Coach John Mullinax, and taught Biology, Wellness and P.E. He later started Parks Insurance and Investments as a financial Investment advisor, he sold his business and returned to teaching and coaching at Cleveland City Schools until his retirement.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kristie and Pete Buckner of Sevierville; two sons and their girlfriends, Chapman Paul Ellis Parks and Makayla Jordan Cartwright and Coltyn Edwin Dale Parks and Samantha Suzanne Reid all of Meigs County; two grandsons, Lane Wolfenbarger and Tyler Noah Buckner; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorinda and Jim Crisp of Riceville; nephews and their wives, Clint and Sarah Crisp, Travis and Jill Crisp, Nathan and Holly Crisp; and a special caregiver, Kim Lockhart.

A funeral service will be conducted, 2:00 pm, Monday, June 1st in the chapel of Smith Funeral & Cremation Services of Athens with Rev. Garry King and Rev. Robert Green officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00-1:30 pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will follow in Eastanallee Cemetery. All COVID-19 rules will be followed.
Pallbearers will be Keith Elliott, Brad Benefield, Ted Lockerby, David McMahan, Gene Davis, Clifford King, Tim Gearrin, and Chuck Condo. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Yates and Dean Ratledge.
