Obituary for Johnnie Joann Nunley (Gennoe)

.Johnnie Joann Gennoe Nunley, 78, of Athens, died Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at her residence.
She was a native of Rhea County and longtime resident of McMinn County and was a daughter of the late Charlie Filyaw and Bessie Gennoe Filyaw Eakins. She was also preceded in death by her husband Glenn R. Nunley, an infant daughter Barbara Nunley, sisters, Shirley Nixon and Brenda Freels, and a brother Jacky Filyaw.
She was a member of Rockview Baptist Church, and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and crafting. She was associated with Athens Hosiery Mill for several years and retired from Textron.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Johnnie Sue Nunley of Decatur and Johnny and Felicia Nunley of Niota; grandchildren, Angela and Brad Page, Adam Nunley, Heather and Paul Henry, and Heath Nunley; great grandchilden, Kandice, Abigail and Joseph Henry, Logan and Evan Nunley, Anecia Caldwell and Kinsleigh Page, and Kalyn and Dawson Nunley; brothers, Leroy and Geraldine, Tommy and Sharon, Robert and Teresa, and Charles and Carmalita Filyaw; and a sister-in-law, Vickie Filyaw all of Dayton.
A funeral service will be conducted, 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 11th in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Sneed and Rev. Jimmy Jackson officiating . The committal service will be 11:00 am Friday at Pond Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Charles, Johnny, Adam, and Heath Nunley, Paul Henry, Jeremy Lingerfelt, and Brad Page.
