Obituary for Walter F Parkinson

Walter F. Parkinson, 87, of Riceville, died Thursday morning, June 11, 2020 at his residence.
He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a son of the late Hugh Frank and Anna Malissa Vineyard Parkinson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Parkinson, and a brother, John Parkinson, MD.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Riceville and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with Bowater's Power Steam Department and retired after 39 years. Walter was also an avid farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anoline Bacon Parkinson of Riceville; a daughter, Connie (Dan) Helm of Wellington, NV; a son, James Parkinson of Riceville; grandchildren, Julie (Brandon) Ladd, Trevin (Brandy) Parkinson, and Sarah Parkinson; six great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Lane and Sylvia Parkison of Kingston, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 13th at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00am-1:00pm Saturday prior to the service.
