Obituary for Glenn Bryson

Glenn Bryson, 77, of Englewood, TN passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon McConkey Bryson; son, Russell Bryson and wife Stacy Bryson of Lenoir City, TN; daughter, Susan Elizabeth Horton and husband Conyers Horton of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Hannah Reigle of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandson, Samuel Horton of Jacksonville, FL, and granddaughter Grace Horton of Gainesville, FL; and great-grandchildren, Robert and Ellie Reigle of Myrtle Beach, SC.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1963 following graduation from Englewood High School Class of 1960, where he was a proud member of the "Dirty Dozen+ 1" football team. Returning to Englewood after discharge from the service, he met and married the love of his life, Sharon Rae McConkey of Athens, TN. They moved to Huntsville, Al where he worked for NASA until 1966, when they moved to Oak Ridge, TN, and he began his 42 year career at the Y-12 facility, retiring in 2008. He was a loving husband and father, as well as a coach for several years in Oak Ridge for youth basketball, soccer, and softball. In addition to camping and fishing, he loved traveling with his favorite trips being Hawaii, London, and long road trips across the U.S.

He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter Ellen Denise Bryson of Oak Ridge,TN; his parents Floyd and Ada Mae Bryson of Englewood, TN, and a sister, Helen Bryson of Englewood, TN.

At his request, there will be no funeral or memorial services. Those wishing to pay respects are asked to make donations in his memory to any of the following: The Michael J.
